Healing happens in community

The Collective exists on the belief that no one heals alone — that the experiences, stories, and support of a community are what make individual growth possible.

Rachel Collins, LICSW

I specialize in working with folks navigating race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, family stress, and other aspects of identity — as well as the unique challenges that arise from systemic inequalities and discrimination.

My approach integrates evidence-based practices with empathy and respect. I honor the backgrounds and stories of each person I work with. Together, we'll explore your strengths, sit with the uncomfortable, and foster growth in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to you.

Outside of session, I enjoy traveling, cooking, music, and spending time with friends.

Why "The Collective"

Healing is not a solo journey

A collective is a group of people who show up for each other. I named this practice The Collective because I believe healing doesn't happen in isolation — it happens through connection. Your experiences, your identity, your community all come into the room. And when you grow, the people around you feel it too.

Community-Centered

Your experience shapes and enriches the whole — and the whole supports you.

Culturally Responsive

I honor the full context of who you are: identity, history, and lived experience.

Anti-Oppressive

I acknowledge systemic barriers to wellbeing and work alongside you to address them.

Whole-Person Wellness

Mental, emotional, relational, and somatic health — all part of the picture.

Individual growth and community care are deeply intertwined — each one shapes and sustains the other.

Sliding Scale

Money shouldn't be what keeps someone out of therapy. I don't ask for pay stubs or proof of anything — I just ask that you're honest with yourself about where you actually stand financially. Pick the rate that fits your real life, not the one that sounds right.

A simple gut check: if paying the Full Rate means skipping something you want but don't need, Standard is probably right for you. If it means choosing between therapy and something essential — groceries, rent, getting to work — that's what the Access rate is for. No justification needed. Just be honest with yourself, and trust that others will do the same.

Individual · per session
$70 $90 $110 $130 $150
Couples · per session
$70 $90 $110 $130 $150 $180
Access · $70–$90

For those experiencing financial hardship.

  • Struggle to meet basic needs
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Rely on government assistance
  • Debt prevents meeting basic needs
Standard · $110–$130

For those getting by but where the full rate would be a real sacrifice.

  • Basic needs usually met
  • Steady income, limited savings
  • Little room for extras
  • Working toward stability
Full Rate · $140–$180

For those with economic stability. Paying full rate supports access for others.

  • Comfortably meet all basic needs
  • Have savings and/or property
  • Expendable income for wants
  • Little financial stress
A note on trust: No income verification, no paperwork. This works because people show up honestly — when those who have more pay more, it makes room for those who have less.

Not sure where you fall on the scale? Reach out and we'll talk through your options.

Good Faith Estimate: Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before beginning services. I am happy to provide this upon request.

Equity Through Therapy

I reserve dedicated hours each week to serve individuals who have experienced historical trauma, come from justice-impacted communities, and lack access to financial resources for therapeutic services.

I believe mental health care is a right, not a privilege. Your support helps reach the people who need it most.

Common Questions

Before you begin

Everything you need to know about getting started with The Collective.

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. This is a low-pressure call where I get to know you, hear what you're looking for, and we figure out together if it's a good fit. No commitment required.
Yes! I am in-network with most major Minnesota insurance plans. You can book directly through Headway to use your insurance benefits — they handle all the billing so you don't have to. I also offer private pay and reduced rates for those who prefer to pay out-of-pocket or have limited financial resources.
Yes — I offer both online (telehealth) and in-person sessions. Online sessions are available to clients located anywhere in Minnesota. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your privacy.
I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee. I understand life happens — please reach out as soon as you know and I'll do my best to work something out.
That's a completely normal feeling. The free 15-minute consult is exactly the right place to explore that question — with zero obligation. Many people find that just having a conversation makes the decision much clearer. There's no pressure and no judgment.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer — it depends on your goals, the nature of what you're working through, and the pace that feels right for you. Some clients find meaningful progress in a few months; others prefer longer-term support. I check in regularly and let you guide the direction.
It means your identity, culture, and lived experiences are central to our work together — not an afterthought. I understand how race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, immigration status, and systemic factors shape mental health and wellbeing, and I bring that understanding into every session.
Yes, genuinely. I believe financial barriers shouldn't prevent access to mental health care. If cost is a concern, bring it up during your consult — We'll have an honest, judgment-free conversation about what's workable. Cost shouldn't be what closes the door on care.
